We are now into the summer months in the Northern Hemisphere, and that means a look towards the future of sports games. Traditionally, most yearly sports titles, such as FIFA, Madden, and NBA 2K, launch in the fall, and the NHL franchise is no exception. NHL 2K22- Release Date
NHL 21 release date of October 16, 2020. It was a later release date than usual due to development delay issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The title before it, NHL 20, came out on Friday, September 13, 2019, while NHL 19 launched on Friday, September 14, 2018. NHL 18’s release date was on September 15, 2017, and NHL 17 was September 13 in North American (Sept. 15 for Europe). Based on those dates, and barring any delays, we’d expect to see NHL 22 release date around that same mid-September release timeframe. That gives us a speculative date for EA releasing the game on September 10 at earliest, and maybe September 17 at the latest.

NHL 22 Early Access
EA NHL games come with several editions offering different rewards. This includes some extras for those who pre order the title.

While the standard edition of NHL 22 will likely not have many pre order extras, the next higher tier editions will likely offer days of NHL 21 early access for players to enjoy.

This will follow up on the 10 hours of gameplay offered by the NHL 22 EA Play Trial.

Cover Star
There are plenty of talented young prospects in hockey, and veterans that are showing up big time and time again.

And while NHL series games have regional cover stars that let fans celebrate their local heroes, one player still receives most of the cover glory (with NHL 21 picking Alexander Ovechkin).This means the NHL 22 cover star will be a product of spirited debate until his reveal.

Some names that fans want to see as NHL 22 cover star include Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Leon Draisaitl.
