World of Warcraft Classic

Blizzard confirmed the start of beta testing for The Burning Crusade expansion

In August 2019, Blizzard released World of Warcraft Classic after testing the waters for a long time with fans of the venerable MMORPG. The idea being to be able to rediscover the game practically as it was when it was first launched, in a vanilla version or almost. The game was presented in version 1.12.1, as in September 2006.

Not only did the players warmly welcome this “homecoming”, but they asked for more. Blizzard has launched several questionnaires to judge the interest in the release of a Burning Crusade Classic and now the expansion is slowly materializing.

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic is part of the reboot salvo announced by Blizzard during the last BlizzCon Online 2021. This week, many WoW players had discovered a “beta” branch in their Battle.net, which suggested that the closed beta would be accessible overnight Monday. A date not illogical since we already knew that an alpha was in progress internally.

It was through an official statement that Blizzard confirmed the start of beta testing for The Burning Crusade expansion. In the publication, the company reported that it is already sending emails with instructions to the players that were selected. It is worth mentioning that everyone can try to guarantee a place by performing the “opt-in” on the official WoW Classic page (just scroll down the page a little and click on the button below the title “Join Beta”). Those who receive the instructions must download a special file and will be able to enjoy the adventure beforehand.

If you’ve already opted in, just update your graphics card drivers and the Battle.net app, choose the Burning Crusade beta from the World of Warcraft drop-down menu, and commence feeling your soul being slowly sucked away. If you’ve not opted in, there’s a webpage for that.

For now, the beta test is only open to a few players. You must have registered on the dedicated page of the official World of Warcraft website of course, but also that Blizzard has accepted your application. We can bet that new waves of testers will be added gradually.

Another important point in the communiqué concerns phising practices. That is, Blizzard has confirmed that some people may receive fake emails. In this case, players who are in doubt about the legitimacy of their invitations should log into their Battle.net accounts and check if there is a license called “Burning Crusade Classic Beta” linked. For more information, I suggest you take a look at the information that was released in a special post related to the Beta. Anyway, everything indicates that the novelty will be marked by a good dose of nostalgia. So, if you’re a WoW veteran, it’s a good idea to take a look and try to “dig” a spot in the tests.
